LibraryThing

I believe that I had joined a similiar service with Facebook before. I enjoyed seeing what other people had to say about the book that I was reading, and I enjoyed seeing what my friends were reading. Again, I tend to get lazy about entering all the information in that I'm supposed to....good intentions though!

Online Mapping and GIS

Hmmmm....I'm trying hard to think of a way I might use this, and can't think of anything at the moment. It might be useful to give out of town guests some ideas of hotels and restaurants to stay in...I'm sure that I'll think of more as time goes by.

Widgets

I think the idea of Widgets is cool. I have already thought of embedding a Meebo chat window into my subject page, and after doing my sabbatical project, I'd like to create a LibGuide that contains a section of widgets specifically for identifying alternate words or vocabulary to query databases with.

Diigo

I think this is a really neat idea, but one that I wonder if I would spend the time to use well. If I did, I would probably find it useful, but I might lack the self discipline to tag the sites properly and thoroughly... I think it would be really useful if a group were working together on a project and wanted to share web resources...that would be really cool, especially if one used the highlighting and comment feature....

Twitter

Twitter....hmmmm...it seems to be similiar to RSS feeds, which, in theory, I like...in practice, I find that I could waste a lot of time reading about things that I probably should do, like eating more spinach, or exercising more, but almost never do...I think this would be great for people with a lot of time on their hands....

Facebook

I Love Facebook! I've been on for a few years now, and find it an awesome way of keeping up with friends and family, that I normally wouldn't find the time to keep up with. I enjoy viewing people's pictures, and having a "peek" into their lives.....

Flickr

I think Flickr is an awesome idea. I have a number of relatives that won't use Facebook, so I can't share my pictures with them. They'd be happy to see them on a site like Flickr though.
Wikis could be really useful for collaboration...although I'm become quite enamoured with Google Docs. Perhaps Wikis have more functionality?

YouTube

I think YouTube is a brilliant site. I see lots of potential for use with the Library, and Virginia Wilson's new YouTube video on the Murray Library is a good example of what can be done. Way to go Virginia!

I saw Jeff Dunham last night....

Prezi

Hmmmmmm......kind of catchy graphics, but not sure that I'd dedicate the time to learn it thoroughly when Powerpoint is still out there, and doing a pretty good job!

Google Docs

I have used Google Docs for work a couple of times, but only after the documents were created by someone else.  It was useful to have to create one from scratch....easy and potentially very useful, especially when collaborating with colleagues off campus....

RSS Feeds & Google Reader

I'm responsible for the Current Research column in the Journal of the Canadian Health Libraries Association, so keep track of the Tables of Contents for the journals in the field of medical librarianship.  That's really handy!  I also think it's very useful for personal reasons.  If I'm after a certain item on EBay, I set up my search within EBay, and create an RSS for it.  That way whenever an item comes up that fits my criteria, I'm alerted!  Far less hassle than continuously checking eBay....

Blogging

I have used blogging in a rather limited way already.

IGoogle

interesting and fun way to bring together different applications....got me starting to think about a start page for Nursing, and wondering if LibGuides offers this type of versatility....

Virgin Blogger no More!

Yes, this is my very first blog!  How exciting!  Lots of new things to learn!
